A vibrant celebration of colour inspired by the enduring power of nature amidst an expanding urban world

Born in Italy, Ricci has always harboured a passion for nature and art, ever since she was a small child. Her father, an avid wildlife photographer in his spare time, would often take her with him on trips to the countryside and various natural parks to experience the ephemeral splendour of wildlife.

As a result of having spent a majority of her youth in the countryside studying and documenting the flora and fauna with her father, the vibrance of the natural world and specifically an interest in entomology, has become an integral part of her style and how it has formed over the years. Insects, particularly butterflies and moths, became the dominant focal point of her works with an emphasis on their bright and bold colours, the symmetry and patterns found on their wings and overall the exuberant joy for life and freedom she found whilst watching them.

Ricci went on to study and obtain a degree in Design while in Rome before she would later travel across Europe, finding new sources of passion and inspiration within mix-media, film and contemporary art movements. These elements would be combined with her love of nature to reflect both unique environments and all that came with them.

Specifically choosing to work with aluminium, she does so to represent the cities she has come to love, while combined with natural subjects, aims to emphasise the durability of nature within an urban sphere while admiring the inherent beauty of both.
